I'm Rita Medinas Faustino, plastic artist and art educator. I graduated in Fine Arts - Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto in 2006 and it was also at this institution that I did the Master's Degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices in 2012.

I have developed work in the field of education in various museological institutions since 2011, of which the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, the José de Guimarães International Arts Center, at the Casa da Memória in Guimarães stand out. having already collaborated with the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum, with the Douro Museum and with the Núcleo de Arte da Oliva Creative Factory in partnership with Talkie Walkie. I also took on the role of coordinating and guiding the educational service of the Center for the Affairs of Art and Architecture (CAAA).

I am the founder of Oficina Josefina, which opened its doors in May 2019.

But who is Josefina anyway?

Josefina is Oficina, of course!

Why Josephine?Because when I was pregnant  of my daughter and I still didn't know what name I would give her when she was born, I told everyone that she would be called Josefina! My daughter's name is not Josefina, but when Oficina started to be born it seemed obvious to me that that was her name. How to blurt out this rhyme, I couldn't!

Oficina Josefina is a workshop space but it feels like we are at home! It has a sofa, it is full of pots, molds for cakes, old scales, kettles, plants and other things that we find in our homes. That's why I'm often asked if we live here.

It is where, in addition to my artistic work, I develop artistic, sensory and craft activities for all ages (babies, children and adults), from painting to ceramics, from embroidery to macramé, but also techniques such as monotype, cyanotype or painting marbled paper.
